As I mentioned earlier, I spent a lot of my time doing wedding photography, and my kit definitely reflected that. The majority of my wedding shots were taken with the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 version 2. While the combination of the 70-200 and D3s is my favorite combination ever, when it comes to shooting wildlife, it is far from ideal.

I decided that it was time to add a new lens to my kit, the Tamron 150mm-600mm f/5-6.3. I brought the lens home and quickly got to work! Realizing that it would be easier to photograph birds I set up a bird feeder to attract some birds while at home.

The lens was very impressive. There was great separation between the subject and the background. Focusing was quick, and the colors looked great. While the lens is big it’s not unwieldy. It’s easy to hand hold and the images are crisp and sharp. I would highly recommend purchasing this lens.

I enjoyed my time with this lens but ended up exchanging it, but that’s a story for another blog post!
